RBA BOÉ SKULL RIDER started the 2018 preseason with a three-day test at Valencia. The weather didn't help the riders, since they had to deal with rain and very low temperatures. In spite of it all, Rodrigo and Masaki could try out the KTM bikes that they'll use throughout the Moto3 World Championship, completing a positive shakedown.

"Bad weather played the main role in this test. The first day we couldn't even get out on track, whereas in the second day we were forced to start very late. We only had one full session at disposal since it took a long time before the track was dry. We got to know the new chassis and the bike that we'll use this year: KTM did a great job. We had a couple of issues, but we think that they were due to the low temperatures, since generally speaking we had a positive feeling. Yesterday we finished in first position, which is a good result to kick off the year. Today we couldn't really take advantage of the first session because of the cold; in the second session we started well, focusing mostly on the race rhythm and putting in a solid pace on used tyres. At the end I had a small crash and that prevented us from setting a faster time, that's why we're a bit behind in the classification. In any case I'm happy, since it didn't take long to achieve a nice feeling on the bike, after the winter break: that was our goal for this test. Let's hope for better weather conditions in Jerez, in order to start working on the bike, since here it was tricky to test any modification."
#22 Kazuki Masaki: 13th - 1'40.515 [combined standings]
"During the first day we didn't go out on track because of the rain. Yesterday I could get on the bike that I'll use this season for the very first time. The feeling was good since the beginning, even if I had a small crash because of the low temperatures. This bike is a bit different from the one that I was using in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, but there are quite a few points in common that gave me the chance to ride it easily. Today we improved and set a fast time. Besides, we took the chance and used the second session to put in quite a few laps. I had another crash because of the cold, but I'm happy: as a whole, this was a good test. I'm looking forwards to getting to Jerez next week."
